Francesconi

Giacomo Francesconi was born in Spilimbergo, Pordenone in Friuli Venezia-Giulia in 1926. The love of his life, Liliana Cancian was born at the neighbouring farm in 1931. They were in each others lives from the very start. They married in 1950 with aspirations for a life filled with great opportunity. In pursuit of this better life for themselves and their family, Giacomo and Liliana immigrated to Canada in 1956 with Giacomo departing first and Liliana and their young family, children Robert and Oriana, joining a year later.

They planted roots in their new home in Toronto, Ontario. Giacomo worked as a carpenter and Liliana ran the household including managing the Friulano boarders who lived with them and worked with Giacomo.

Through hard work, dedication and sacrifice, ‘Mino & Lily’ persevered and shared countless happy moments with family and friends. This included many trips to Acapulco, Las Vegas and back to Spilimbergo where they purchased a vacation property. The best memories were shared at the prized custom-built family cottage where summers were spent with loved ones especially their five grandchildren: Jennifer, Alex, Kristopher, Kelly & Debra.

Mino & Lily’s immigration journey has made an everlasting impact. They have left a legacy that will never be forgotten and their family is forever grateful and full of admiration.
