Saglioccolo
In 1964 Procolo and Amalia said goodbye to their families in Napoli and set out with their 3 young children Giovanna (1960) Pasquale (1961) and Luisa (1963) in hopes of a better life in Canada. They arrived with no coats and no money. They were welcomed by Amalia’s brother and they lived together for a few months until finally they were able to rent a small house on 105 Merrill Ave East. In 1965 Emanuela was born. In 1970 they welcomed their daughter Maria to complete their family. In 1971 they had saved enough to purchase a home on 10 Tealham Drive. They faced many obstacles as new immigrants trying to achieve their dreams. Not able to speak the language they somehow managed with hard work, sacrifice and perseverance to build a life that they could have never imagined. Procolo and Amalia instilled family values. Their love for family and tradition lives on today with their children, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. ‘The love of a Family is life’s greatest blessing. Like branches on a tree, we may grow in different directions but our roots remain as one.’ Thank you Mama e Papa for the most amazing life! We love you forever and for always.
